Diagnostic tablet showing a fault scan

Diagnostics and servicing

For when you want the car checked rather than fixed. We scan for faults, look into warning lights and do the servicing that falls between PMS visits, such as brake fluid.

Bring it in if you notice

  • A warning light you'd like explained
  • The car feels different but nothing obvious is wrong
  • You've just bought the car and want it looked over
  • Brake fluid or other fluids are due

What's included

  • A diagnostic scan and a read-out of stored fault codes
  • A check of the area the fault points to
  • A plain explanation of what we found and what it needs, if anything
  • Servicing work you approve, such as a brake fluid change

Service, PMS or repair?

  • PMS is the scheduled maintenance at each interval. See PMS.
  • Service is a check or diagnosis when something needs looking at.
  • Repairs are for when something is broken. See Repairs.

If a module needs coding or a control unit has failed, see Coding and module repair.

How it works

We inspect, explain, and you approve before any work starts. If we spot anything else, we tell you and you decide.

Common questions

Is a scan enough to know what's wrong?

A scan tells us where to look. It doesn't always name the faulty part, so we check the area it points to before recommending anything.

Can I just get a warning light cleared?

We can clear it, but if the cause is still there the light comes back. We'd rather find the cause first.
